In 1982, Tony was invited to front the world famous, Jurys Irish Cabaret, and in 1998 he received a National
Entertainment Award, in recognition of his twenty three years of work with the cabaret.
Celtic Nights features the country’s top artists and has entertained over two and a half million people at its home in Dublin and across Ireland. Since 1978, it has undertaken 10 coast-to-coast tours of the United States and Canada playing to packed houses, including famed Carnegie Hall in New York, and performing before an estimated 1.2 million Americans.
Over the years, the show has featured many established stars and has proved to be a launching pad for young artists. Among the many fine voices featured have been those of John McNally, Michael O’Dea, Patricia Cahill, Mary O’Hara and well-known recording artist Tony Kenny.
The non-singing parts of the show have always been an important piece, and the room is at its best when filled with laughter! The irrepressible Hal Roach fulfilled this important task for over twenty year, and his shoes are filled with great Irish funny men. Recently, top comedian, Joe Cuddy has the honour of making people laugh.
Tony Kenny is an icon in the world of Irish music, having added three of the Irish music industry’s most prestigious awards to his resume: the “Performing Artists Trust Society Annual Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Performing Arts,” Ireland’s 1998 “Entertainer of the Year,” and “Ireland’s Industry Music Hall of Fame Award,” received in October of 2008.
Celtict Nights is a full theatrical production, consisting of more than two hours of traditional and contemporary music, song, dance, and laughter! Emerging new trends in Irish music are incorporated to bring together the very best of traditional Irish and modern entertainment while providing an authentic flavor of Irish life. In 2010, Tony Kenny and,his Celtic Nights show will embark on its 11th tour of the United States.
